About The Barbara Denton Program

Founded by retired executives and former senior members in the federal executive branch, the Barbara Denton Program conducts multiform programming to advance its vital mission. As a non-profit organization, our work is strictly non-partisan and does not contribute to any candidate or campaign. Our programs include summer seminars for high school students; field trips for college and high school students; research grants to high school and college students for projects conducted under the direction of the Denton Program; workshops for leaders; support for graduate students and junior academics; international programming highlighting the common values at the heart of thriving constitutional republics; enriching guest speakers; and support for student internships at foundations, think tanks, cultural organizations, and professional offices aligned with our vision. We also support academic research that advances understanding of the central topics fundamental to our mission.
By cultivating an environment of intellectual curiosity, the Barbara Denton Program addresses not only the first principles of the American Republic but also pressing contemporary issues. The Barbara Denton Program, therefore, stands as a testament to the tremendous importance of intellectually engaging the men and women on whom the future of this republic, and all governments so conceived, depend.
Where possible, we seek to complement the activities of any non-profit organization that shares our outlook, without compromising in any way our status as an independent entity, or our steeled resolve to advance the Barbara Denton Program’s distinctive mission.
About Barbara Denton
This program is named in honor of Barbara Denton. Barbara was born in Huntington, WV and graduated from St. Joseph Central Catholic High School and from the University of Notre Dame of Maryland. Barbara rose through the ranks of Sales & Marketing at CSX Transportation to become National Account Manager. She retired from CSX to become Director of Marketing at Maryland Midland Rwy.
Having always been interested in history, civics and politics she became
much more involved after retiring. Barbara’s creed is axiomatic: God, family, and Country–the basic order by which one should live and the order all should pass on to future generations. Barbara demonstrates this creed by working through local Christian communities, supporting those in need locally and by contributing to God’s work through such organizations as the Kimmel Cancer Institute, Lutheran World Relief, Shriners Hospital for Children, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, among others.
Barbara, and husband Paul, live in MD with their much-loved dog
George. They have two daughters, Cynthia (Bob) and Sara (Craig) and four
grandchildren.
